School Caretaker | Brighton | £13.68 - £15.00 per hour | Temporary | Full–Time
About the role
This school is seeking a dependable and proactive School Caretaker to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. This is a hands-on role that plays a vital part in the day-to-day running of the school site.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across the school premises.
  • Ensure the site is secure, including opening and locking up the building.
  • Monitor heating, lighting, and alarm systems.
  • Support contractors and deliveries on site.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas, including snow/ice clearance.
  • Set up rooms for school events and activities.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and health and safety issues.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks and supplies.
Person Specification
  • Previous experience in care-taking, facilities, or maintenance role (school experience desirable).
  • Practical DIY skills and familiarity with basic tools and equipment.
  • Good understanding of health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Reliable, flexible, and committed to high standards.
  • A full UK driving licence may be required depending on site needs.
